One of the things that I had on my mind after having the first look on the stage was, how is the small stage set up going to be done this time around
Well, I did see some platforms a bit out into the crowd, around the B sections on the field. Hmm, how is that going to looke like Hmm, how are they gonne get out there
WELL, they did surprice me again. Miss you was on and suddenly a section of the main stage started to move. The band just kept on playing Miss You and the stage set just kept on moving . When Miss You then was finished of, the moving platform had created the B-stage together with two other platforms fixed out there. Amazing view The band just kept on playing as they were moved out onto the B-stage
Then the return to the mainstage was done the other way around. While doing HTW the platform / B-stage started to slowely move back again and by the time thay had done HTW, they were back on the main stage.
Rob took a lot of pictures, a few baad ones but also a few very good ones of the show. Mickijaggeroo who is our homepage master of disaster was just too exhausted after the show, so we just could not get them pictures out there right now. But, have a look shortly, then the diary on the home page will have PICTURES from the show
Da cyberspace is full of revievs and comments already so I will not post a complete list here. I can only give ya a few of my own comments on what my own feeling was on a few songs:
[glow=red,2,300]Rough Justice[/glow] This new one rocks like anything. This one will grow as the tour keeps on rolling. It was done real nice tonight.
[glow=red,2,300]Back Of My Hand[/glow] Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Sounded just as good as I ever could have expected. Being a Delta Blues fan I just love this one. The best song done since Brown Sugar in 1971. Mick and Ron doing slide guitar together
[glow=red,2,300]Night time[/glow] I usually don't like it when they do these cover songs but this one was a blast. The old Ray Charles classic with Keith going BLUES. Lisa was brilliant as well, doing a big part of the singing. In top five on the gig
[glow=red,2,300]Infamy[/glow] The new Keith song. This new one had a nice grooving feeling in it. Keiths voice was also very strong. Nice song done in a good way hurray
[glow=red,2,300]Oh No, Not You Again[/glow] Sounded much better than it did during the "On Stage" tour in May. A good rocker that will grow as well. Keep it.
[glow=red,2,300]Out Of Control[/glow] This one was my favorite during BTB tour. I was really glad that they put it back into the set. It rocked tonight also but was a little bit "thin" compared to BTB version. Maybe not the music itself but the lightshow was much better on BTB than tonight. It did not really take off like it used to do. But still, I just loved it
[glow=red,2,300]Sympathy[/glow] HO HOOOOOO HO HOOOOOO What more can ya say?? Probably the highlight of the show. As Gimme Shelter was not done tonight, then this one stole the show for me. Very nice red video screen / light show brrrrrrrrr HO HOOOOOOO HO HOOOOOOOOO
Then a few Shattered Never understood this song, just drop it........ She's So Cold Never liked this one either. I did not grooove to it at all Miss You Well, this one was a big hit back in the 70's in Da States so they just have to play it. It has been played to bits and pieces so as far as I am concerned, they should drop it by now
I agree with you Janne about these three songs, Shattered, She's so cold and Miss you. Change them for three more thrilling things, some real old stuff. My god how I wish I was there in Boston with you guys, it's terrible to sit here at work and read about your adventures. But it's really good to see that you are making so good PR för the NSV!! Have fun guys!! Ove
The stage is hughe I mean really big. I don't think they have had anything this big before. The floorpart of the stage is maybe similar to what we have seen on recent tours but the wall construction is big. You may have seen some pictures and there are four, five balcony levels on each side of the video screen. At least three of the levels had lots of people loking out on to the field, having the same view as the band.
The balcony was kind of curved into the center so I think that fans up there had a fantastic spot to watch the gig from. The balcony construction was a major part of the lightshow so there was a lot of different colors and other stuff going on. So, in the end of the day, sitting on the grandstand, you really did not notice the On Stage crowd that much. i did not mind that they were there. Heard that some 250 people got up there.
