"You could fry some eggs " on this acetate !!! and from our all time favourite seller . What is with the on again off again selling of this item. Hopefully discussing it here can stop someone from buying it and hopefully 95% of the other fake Stones acetates out there for sale.
Rule number 1 when buying acetates . NEVER buy an acetate with the word "acetate" on the label !!!!
Item description: ROLLING STONES - LETS SPEND THE NIGHT / RUBY TUESDAY DECCA GROUP - ADVANCE TEST RECORDING 12456 BLUE DECCA TESTPRESS LABEL POSSIBLY ONLY 10 - 15 OF THESE EVER MADE CONDITION - LABELS - EX+++ - VINYL - LIGHT SCUFFS / SCRATCHES
I got an interesting mail again from from George, "The Decca Man" that I feel needs to be here as well
" I am very suspicious of this as there are to many things wrong .The seller describes the disc as a vinyl test pressing. A vinyl test pressing would not have a blue label as these were only used at the studios for acetates. He then says that it is a Decca group advance test recording, and has a blue Decca test press label which with your knowledge of collecting is nonsense. He then says that possibly only 10-15 ever made, how could he know that.If you zoom in on the images you can see under the labels the outline of the form marks of the stamper. It looks as if the labels of a normal copy of the record has been carefully removed and the fake blue labels stuck on to enhance the value of the disc.I don't know if you agree with my observations but this is what i think.I don't like to see you genuine collectors ripped of by these people.
This is absolute priceless information coming from a man who was there at the time working on these items. Makes a mockery of all the white label Decca acetates and Blue label Tests that have been sold the past few years. I would love to know George's thoughts in regards to Decca 10" acetates in general and all of the current crop of fakes particularly the Apple and trident labels.
Thankyou George for your informative advice ,and to Jan for passing it on for all of us to share.......
