This has been a disaster that will at least for me have a lasting impact.
I have been communicating with the ticket sales office and asked them what I actually bought, but not much coming from there. They do reply pretty fast but the content of the replies are just BS.
I asked them about the location of Tier2 for which I have tickets, but just the same BS that has been posted on other places.
I asked them why they are charging me £90 for sending me two tickets in an envelope. They replied that I can also pick up the tickets on gig day..... LIKE £90 for sending an envelope.. jeeezus
I also asked them about the Backstage Bar for which I have tickets. Well, the bloke listed a few things that I have absolutely no use for. I also asked for a refund of the Bar money but they cannot do it..
This is a total disaster. They have taken the art of screwing music lovers to a new level.
I am so P***ED OF for the moment that I cannot put words to it.
This is the biggest ticket scam I have ever encountered.
I bought tickets on Tier 2 that was supposed to be in front of Tier 3 ticket holders. I bought also a Backstage Bar access pass, just because that was forced on me as no other Tier 1 or 2 tickets were available.
Then I find out that the location promised is not what I get and there is no way to correct this, as per organizers. Then the Bar option cannot be refunded. Ontop of that they are charging me 90 pounds to send me tickets. So in the end of the day, I am totally screwed. I got a location that I do not want, I got a bar access that I do not need and have to pay too much to get the tickets.
As I said, these people has taken this to a new level.
Why did all this happen? Well, I do not know if it is true but I have seen somewhere in the massive flow of information during the past few days that the reason for having the expensive VIP areas Tier 1 and 2 put to the side is that the BAND wanted to have Tier 3 ticket holders up front so that there would be some action in the audience!
This means that Jagger has indicated that he thinks that a fan that can afford an expensive ticket is not as good fan as a person that cannot afford an expensive ticket. People who buy expensive tickets, just put them on the side, they are not here for the band anyhow, they are here just to hang in the bar...
This has now had a huge impact on my approach to the band. I have had to rethink my appreciation for the band. This means: All my Stones t-shirts have been packed away. I have some 60-70 of 'em. Now they are all in a box and will not be used anymore. I cannot promote a band that I have lost faith in. No more new releases will be purchased. I am not going to get involved with new releases anymore, coz I simply do not care what they do anymore. No more Live gigs. Hyde Park July 6th will be my list gig ever. I will not participate in the modern way of screwing music lovers. Basically: I've had it with the band.
The only thing I still may do is to buy the odd vinyl to complete my collection, but that's it really.
Never thought that a 30 years long relationship would end this way.
Jan, Be calm, it is like it is, I also have a tier2 ticket. I mailt to the ticketsellers when I heard of read about the tickets, I got this answer: I could my full money back, and after all I thought about it, I do not that, becouse I'm 63 of age and I can go to A PLACE (I don't know where) but I'm sure I'll see them. Maybe it is not the best position, but this is MY LAST CONCERT FOR THIS GUYS!!! If they must come to Belgium (Werchter is only 10 km from my home) I'LL NOT GO The Stones are 100% agree with the tiers, no doubt about it. The promotors are not involved about it , the Stones are responsibly for this mess up. If Jagger says "You sold this tickets.... You have to do as you sold" I'm misled for buying the ticket, and so it will go. I was in heaven to have a tier 2 ticket, confirmed , directly booked the eurostar, a hotel and so it is. After all ""It's not the end of the world we are going too""!!!!
So, sleep good, put some things out of your mind, and all becomes good, See you and Viking members in Hyde Park, Greetings Luc,
hi, I would like to buy a Viking T-Shirt for my last concert for Hyde Park. I don't like to wear a stones shirt as they sold tickets on this way. Who can send me out a xxl and xxxl shirt? Of course I'll pay beforehand. I'm asking for NEW not secoundhand!!! Greets, and I see you in Hyde Park,,, (FOR THE LAST TIME) My E-mail is open.
Ok, then the aftermath of the fiasco from promotors side in Hyde Park. Now Tuesday 9th of July 2013 and I got back home yesterday after a weekend in London Town. Well, what to say.... a few comments on the arrangements around the gig. I will not comment the gig itself here but create another post with some pictures I took during the evening.
Starting point before leaving from Finland for London. What a mess. No ticket in my hand, contradicting information an where and when to pick up the ticket, last minute changes of the location map about tier 1 and 2 and so on. So I was boarding my flight i Vasa Finland without any other confirmed information than that I would see Da Rolling Stones in Hyde Park in London on Saturday night. The rest was to be improvised on location.
I had also a ticket for the Friday Bon Jovi gig, well, not the ticket itself but a "will call" option to get it. The scenario was like this: the latest information before boarding the flight was that Stones tickets could be picked up no later that 13.00 hrs on Friday, after that only Bon Jovi ticks would be given out. My flight arrived at Heathrow on 12.50 hrs so the expectations were not that high. I arrived at the hotel around 14.00 hrs and met up with Jokke Nurmi from Lohja just outside Helsinki. We headed down to the Park to get the BJ tickets. After getting them I asked if there was any possibility to get Tier 2 and the Silly Bar tickets for the next day. "ok, show me your reservation" said the lady at the counter. Off she went and back in a split second, "yes, here ya go". My god, I did not believe my ears / eyes. In front of me was two envelopes containing wrist bands for Tier 2 and pass for the Silly Bar. That saved my entire trip. Friday afternoon and I could relax, Stones pass in my hand! No need to run around on Saturday an try to find the wristbands.
We got into the area around 17.00 hrs on Saturday. To get in was rather simple. We had to cue for a few wristbands, one for the tier 2 and another one for the Silly Bar even though we already had a wrist band and a pass from the day before. Anyhow, more bands then, right. But no paper ticket and that's sad as this was my Stones gig number 26 and I have tickets form all other gigs in my collection. We found the Tier 2 area rather easy, but no sight of tier 1 at all. We did not find the Barclaycard Unwind Back Stage Bar, aka the Silly Bar despite looking around for some time. Then we bumped into Matt Lee and he directed us to the location. I had paid £100 to get in here so I had to check it out at least. Well, the Silly Bar was just that, Silly. A small area to hang around in, nothing else. We had to pay for everything to drink and eat, despite the £100 I had paid. Then there was supposed to be an "automatic flushing toilet" that as per the promotor was worth the £100, but sadly, I cannot report on the experience of taking a £100 shit as I did not find the automatic flushing toilet. So, the Silly Bar was just as useless that I had anticipated. Plain rip off from AEG, the promotor in cooperation with Barclay Bank. If I would be an UK citizen with an account at Barclay, well.... you know what I would do I guess.
