If there has been a past thread on the classic Exile LP variations of various' countries, please forgive. If not, then, much like the current Sticky thread, let's air out some goodies. With this in mind, here's one that many have probably not seen live, let alone via photo - the U.S. Armed Forces' edition of Exile from the Vietnam days! With this, the US Government "condensed" Exile to a single LP, and note the very odd and interesting track "re-shuffling" on this side. I will follow soon with the picture of the other side, as well as another version of Exile which is not often seen. I hope that this thread will get many from this Board inspired to post variations and versions of Exile from their home countries that most of us in the States do not get to see too often, because I am curious if the rest of the world follows the US or the UK as to the postcards. Recall the US cards are larger and have red writing on the front, while the UK ones are smaller and are without color. I hope this thread will get JR to post a pic of the Exile he has from the Phillippines, as the cover is entirely different! In going through my collection, I have identified that I have 14 different variations of Exile from 3 different countries. While I am aware that there are numerous variations based on the different pressing plants indicated by the last 2 letters on the matrix number, there are other variations I would love to learn about from this group like the "Allen" pressing, the acetates, and any test pressings out there. Exile is my favorite Stones' LP, and the one that some 37 years ago ripped off the top of my skull to define, once and for all, rock and roll at its finest. I can't wait to see what y'all have and will share, and I have a few more to come.... Thanx in advance, stonesstein Attachments:

Many people have asked me over the years if there was ever a white label promo issue of Exile. While the answer is "No." as far as the US & UK are concerned, from time to time, one will see pictures of a White Label Exile. Attached is that exact LP. For whatever reasons (I would love to know!), Israel issued Exile with white labels and no tongues thereon. Another significant difference was a black spine with writing thereon. I cannot discuss whether it came with post cards, as mine has none. One other thing - Israel also released a white label Sticky, a pic of which I will post in the Sticky thread soon. BEWARE - there are some dealers out there with NO scruples who will try to pass one of these off as a promo issue. While there were Exiles given to radio stations, such were simply stock copies with stickers thereon. If anyone knows more on this white label Exile, please share! stonesstein Attachments:

John that looks amazing. The Exile Display looks terrific, and your Jukebox EP looks mint. I haven't seen the strips before! I have the EP but not the strips. Wow. Just wondering, what is the "album preview" in your photo of the Exile Display? It is in bottom right of your photo... I have never seen that before? Bolexman, All part of the press kit. Often these type of press kits had early reviews of the LPs in them. Best, JR

There exists nice pressings of the Argentina Exile EP with a PS sleeve, they have yellow labels with the tongue and lips logo. But my copy is different - seems to be Music Hall white label with promo stamps? Yes: is the promo one. Says: PROHIBIDA SU VENTA - DISCO PARA DEMOSTRACIÓN That means: NOT FOR SALE - DEMONSTRATION RECORD One question for you, bolexman. I think that the clear Exile is a bootleg, same as the red one easy to find on the web. I know that there's a boxed Exile with a T-shirt released last year with the deluxe box set and all that stuff, but I don't think that one is the same and I'm near sure that is not in red vinyl. The Sticky Fingers released in 2010 was released in red vinyl, but the Exile from Universal web site is (I think) black vinyl with a T-shirt on a box. Please... tell me if you know something about that. Thanks

Bolexman - I'm not sure if it's a bootleg since I don't have the record in my hands, but I think that probably it is. By the way: I love to have that clear version of Exile... even if it's a boot.
Even better: the above press kit!!!! Wow!

I think the same as you.... that text about the cassette makes me think is a boot, but: who knows??? The best way to know it is to buy a copy.... thanks for the ebay link.
By the way: which words do you use to look for the Globus records?? I promise to you that if I find that one that you're missing I let you know!!!!!!

Bolexman, Swan Lager . Mate I have not seen that brand for years up this way . Are you a originaly a Sandgroper !! EMI 's main plant was in Sydney so it must of been Toohey's. Anyway it's all good. Do you have a copy of the oz 'Happy' single. It's a hard one to find. Also Ain't Too proud to Beg. I had not seen one for over 15 years and then A few came onto the market in the past year . OZ Stones singles just did not sell between 1970 and 1976 except for Angie . The LP'S offered such good value for money. Regards Peter

Hello Peter and other Exile fans, Regarding 'Happy' 7" from OZ, I removed this entry from Stones7.com a while ago since noone ever seen a copy apparently; I believe this was one of those 'assumed' releases [since the NZ release exists]. Other singles coming right now to my mind and that do not exist [but were supposed to] are: - Let's Spend. The Night.. Decca GHP 84168 - France [PS w/ the GHP logo on top left corner - the existing image come from photoshop] - Start me up - Holland; - One Hit - Portugal; but there are some others... Best Nothing really exciting from Australia with any of the Exile releases . Original RSR WEA pressings COC2-2900 simply had a ink sample stamp on the label for promo's. Attached is an Aussie EMI Exile with a mispress label for sides 3 and 4. One of the rarest Oz singles does come from the Lp 'Happy / All down the line" RS19104. Bolexman posted a nice pic of the Argentine "Happy" Music Hall promo single. One of the true great Exile LP white label promos is the Music Hall version from Argentina. . Please post if anyone has one of those beauties.
