Unfortunately xxxrecords selling it. ALL their LP's are always going for big ££££ That's the seller who got +700 pounds for a Let It Bleed a year or so ago. They get like twice as much for any record as anyone else selling on the bay, just because of the out of their heads and over the hill item description. Selling price will not start with a number 1, it will for sure begin with number 2.
The one pictured here is made in USA on the London Record label. They are far more common that the UK made Promotional Album on DECCA label.
Even thought the story goes that 200 London and 200 Deccas were pressed back then, this cannot be the real case. You see about 15 London LP's on one Decca LP, indicating that there are at least 10 times more London existing.
My personal guess is that 1200 London records were made and 200 Decca Records were made
The one that just was sold on e-bay was the Decca version. It is up for sale maximun one piece per year, sometimes two years in between the copies.
There was a UK DECCA RSM-1 copy again up for sale in the beginning of August 2010.
The LP was signed by all five Stones and there was one person commenting in the item like this:
"Around 20 to 30 of the approx 200 pressed were signed for certain promotions . There is a photo of Mick signing them in the Melody Maker mag at the time. Only 2 copies I know of have come up for sale in the last 15 years "
Do anyone of you have any information on this? Have you seen signed RSM-1 LP's before? From were would this info come?
I have pictures of one copy that was sold in 2006 that is signed and it is not the same as this one that now was on sale. The signatures are pretty much the same so I would say that the autographs are genuine ones.
Mick Jagger: Looks almost identical on both covers Mick Taylor: Looks almost identical on both covers Keith Richards: A bit different but several elements still very much the same Bill Wyman: Looks almost identical on both covers Charlie Watts: now this is another story. The signatures look a bit same on both covers BUT they are for sure fake. Charlies autograph is not even close to these ones.
But I have an idea: If you look at Bills and the again on Charlies: very similar handwritting and the same pen used. I would say that Charlie was not present in the office when the LP's were signed so Bill just did it for him ;D
I would think that they are the real thing. I mean, would a guy making fake autos sit on TWO of the Stones Holy Grail on the same time? I don't think so.
This one was sold on the bay in June of 2010 by xxxxrecords for £2161. Buyer got it at a very good price. I did not get into the competition as the ending time was 3 a clock in the morning and the seller was xxxrecords again. The same guys that got £5600 for a copy i January 2010, even though the letter, poster and catalogue were missing. SO I was expecting a new all time high again for a RSM-1 Cannot still forgive myself for not staying awake and taking part in the competition....
